(SOPG) website! The purpose of this site is to provide
information to current members of the Susitna Optional
Program, as well as those just interested in learning more
about the Optional Program at Susitna Elementary.
Suggestions for how to make the site more useful/helpful

Who
are we?
The Susitna Optional Parent
Group, or SOPG, is a volunteer parent group comprised of
parents or guardians of children in the Open Optional
Program at Susitna Elementary. SOPG is led by a volunteer
advisory board consisting of a Chair, Vice-Chair,
Secretary, and Treasurer.
The 2007-2008 SOPG Board is:

What do we do?
SOPG is specifically dedicated to supporting the Open
Optional Program at Susitna Elementary. We perform similar
functions as a PTA (and we work closely with Susitna's
PTA). Key responsibilities include: assisting with PACT
days (Parents and Children Together), coordinating and
leading Intensives, assisting with Community Outreach
projects, and coordinating and assisting with events like
the Fall Ice Cream Social, The Spring Sock Hop Dance, the
End of Year Valley of the Moon Bike Ride and Picnic, and
the Year-End Barbeque.
When do we meet?
SOPG meets one evening per month, from 6:30-8:00pm, in an
Optional Program classroom at the school. Childcare is
provided to encourage as many parents to attend and
participate as possible. Click on the Calendar link at the
top of the page for dates of events and upcoming SOPG
